Based on the style of Who Will Cry for the Boy, this piece tells the real story in poetry form of an injustice going on in a Paterson, NJ school.

“Who Will Stand Up for the Teacher.”

Who will stand up for the teacher, who has done nothing wrong,

But since November of last year, his heart beats only tearful songs,

Who will stand up for this decent man, who celebrates all his kids,

Then came that dreadful day, when his life hit the skids,

He stood charged with nothing, but giving his students troves of love,

But then a beast with a title, chose his devotion to shove,

She attacked him all she could, using deceit at the tip of her darts,

She found no level of low for which to bash his heart,

Who’ll pray for this teacher, whose devotion was so deep,

That he overcame painful handicaps, even crawling up stairs quite steep,

On those days, he’d pretend all was well,

Eagerly awaiting his students to hear the new stories they would tell

Who’ll pray for this teacher, whose principal did target for hate,

Taking away all things helpful, as she worked to destroy his fate,

The district ignored her sins, and the disgrace she flouted so bold,

To beat this man down, and leave him out in the cold,

Away from the jewels he was entrusted to make shine,

His surrogate sons and daughters, usually aged 7, 8 or nine,

Each day he fights harder to bring smiles to his face,

But the truth he feels a pain that’s too great to erase,

Who’ll cry for the teacher, for whom life as lost its sun,

For his days are spent joyless, with no peace, nor faith, nor fun,

His family leads the good fight, especially his mom, so feisty and strong,

Especially since his tormentors use lies to enhance their wrongs,

Who’ll pray for the teacher, who deserves praise not scorn,

Who’ll take his hand and help him defeat a terrible wrong,

Who’ll help this teacher’s smile return to his eyes,

When will the day come when he no longer has to cry
