I wrote this for my class, it’s a found poem so I took the quotes from I know why the caged bird sings by maya angelou and rearranged them and stuff to come up with this poem… everyone thought it was amazing so ye hope you enjoy o.O.
Although he looked harmless
I knew he was a dreadful angel
He was holding me too tight
he let me hurt so much
It was simply another case of trickiness
he had forgotten the loneliness
‘if you scream I’m gonna kill you’
I knew he could do it
with his cold face and empty eyes
Then there was the pain
A breaking and entering when even the senses are torn apart
Could I tell vouluntarily?
I knew that because the terrible pain assured me
I couldn’t
I loved him so much I’d never hurt him
he released me
I thought I had died
I thought if I could face
the worst danger I would forever have power over it
I was hurt
and for a time felt lonelier than ever
What he did to me
and what I allowed
must have been very bad
I longed for death
I despised the man
I never want to hear thiss situation
nor that evil man’s name mentioned
The tears didn’t soothe my heaart as they usually did
The act of rape had triumphed
