Why did you go? -a poem.

Why did you go?

When I look at the trees,
Silhouetting the sky.
I remember one summer,
With a twinkling eye.

It was under these trees,
That we had our first kiss.
Their leaves are now gone,
And it’s you that I miss.

Though young, the Grim Reaper
Did scythe you away.
Yet you’ll live in my heart
Forever and a day.

This is what I love about poets: You say so much with just a handful of words.
Very short and very meaningful. I\’ve lost a loved one recently, and yes, they will always live in my heart.
