Sometimes our words can hurt or hinder others, who may not understand our purpose for the verbal attack. They may have enough courage to ask, “why did you say what you said”?
Did you say what you said, so that I would lower my head? If you did, then I am sorry, I will raise it instead.
Did you say what you said, to bring my spirit down? If you did, then I am sorry, My spirit is so high I feel as if I could fly.
Did you say what you said, so that I would quit? If you did, then I am sorry, you see my fire is already lit. Now is no time for me to quit.
Did you say what you said, so that I wouldn’t excel? If you did, then I am sorry, I will prevail. My mind is not for sell.
Did you say what you said, to use your words like and arrow, that would kill the little sparrow? If you did, then I am sorry, I am still walking the straight and narrow.
Did you say what you said, because I don’t want to walk your road? I want to walk the one few people chose. If your words were meant to destroy, I am sorry, I didn’t fall for your ploy.
As I contemplated hate, the Lord whispered in my ear and said, “meditate, dedicate, appreciate, then see if I won’t liberate you.
Say what you will, I am free and soon I hope you too will be.
