Some call us crazy. Crazy to run countless miles when others can think of so many things they think we would rather be doing. I hope this helps to explain why we do it.

Why do we run?

Is it for glory?

There is none.

That goes to the quarterbacks and the point guards.

The ones who stick out.

Is it for fitness?

Not quite.

After a point your body is used to the burden you put on it.

Instead, it is for your brothers.

The ones who line up next to you

every weekend, the true warriors.

The ones who have been through the trial of miles

with you, and know your suffering.

And you know theirs.

And you fight for them.

Your body tells you to stop.

That it does not want the pain anymore.

And you tell it no, because your brothers would keep going for you.

They are willing to die on that course for you

and so you had better be damn ready to sacrifice your body for them too,

when you are called on in the moments of utter agony

to push your earthly vessel harder than it has ever gone before

because you know that there are a select few

who at that moment are bearing the exact same load for you

and you will never let your brothers down.

That is why we run.
