We get so tainted as we get older, we need to get back to what used to be good.

When you were young you’d spin around in circles,

waiting for the world to catch up with you.

You had a wide-eyed innocence.

Chasing the lightning bugs and butterflies,

no one could steal the light from your eyes.

You had a wide-eyed innocence.

As you grew up you got caught in the rush,

watching the world pass you by.

You lost that wide-eyed innocence.

When you’d get caught up downward you’d fall,

on knees and elbows desperately crawl.

You lost that wide-eyed innocence.

Now you lay here broken, beaten and bruised,

by the world’s cruelty you’ve been violently used.

Bandage your wounds, hold some ice to the burn,

realizing now you’ve got so much to learn…

You found that wide-eyed innocence.
