Poem inspired by photos of views of/from windows, arches, portals, different horizons.

Writer’s block, lacking inspiration;

Net curtains closed to deter prying eyes…

Dark chocolate ‘fix’ – focus restored.

Daydreams of portals to more exciting

Places – the Alhambra in sharp relief -

Hued stonework and mosaics set against

Long ebony-black shadow.

Half-remembered childhood trip

To Bamburgh Castle – fine day,

North Sea a Mediterranean blue,

Sighted from Norman arched window.

Merchant Navy voyage en route to

Singapore harbour – dank doldrums -

Rusty porthole, nondescript sunset.

Lunar module, 1969, within seconds

Of historic Moon landing.  Yukon

Wilderness shack, dilapidated, rotting

Window frames, neglected, uncared for;

Overgrown rye grass.  Jolted back to

Reality, humid rainy day in Dundee.

Switch on TV – downtown Baltimore

Waterfront, multilayered plot, The Wire.

    Thanks, thought the title Windows Vista, a play on words, would attract hundreds of computing fans! Not so far…
