A "___ is…" poem written exclusively by a passionate 9-year-old. Please enjoy and comment!

Winter is colorful lights on Christmas trees

with presents and ornaments all around it.

Winter is sparkly fireworks in the freezing cold weather,

and we stand shivering and watching on New Year’s day.

Winter is snowball fighting in snow,

getting wet and cold.

Winter is skiing downhill,

in the frosty, cold glow of twilight.

Winter is ice skating carefree and pure,

falling down everywhere, an unnamed amateur.

Winter is a cup of burning hot coca with mushy marshmallows wallowing in the drink.

One stares hungrily at that warm tray for only moments

before it is all gobbled up and away.

Winter is a peaceful season.

Exhilaratingly fun, it awakens the soul

ridden with the unnatural cold.
