On winter afternoons with the drowsy sun lethargically smiling through veils of clouds or engrossed in slumber on mattresses of soft clouds lulled by the breeze, a blanket and a nap are my idea of a slice of paradise…
When the mellow lukewarm smile of the lethargic sun
Taking an abreviated sojourn of the azure skies
Falls on the earth shivering in the chill of the winter breeze
When after a delicious meal and some oranges on the terrace
The heart yearns to curl up within the warm embrace of the quilt
When the breeze sings soporific lullabies and the bed beckons
With the promise of a cosy slumber of ecstasy and warmth
Yawns emerge from the mouth to lure one to the couch
When a hot cup of steaming chocolate inside the blanket
Teamed with some biscuits or crackers
Are my idea of an afternoon of delight
Or even a mere hot cup of coffee, sweet and strong
While I read a book of mystery in my bed ,is heaven
With mufflers, socks and sweater I bundle up my lazy self
To go out on these lethargic afternoons
Rueing the reason for this foray in streets haunted by chilly draughts
And regreting the siesta lost to me
As with pink cheeks flushed in the cold I walk on the roads
Wishing I were within my cosy blanket’s alluring warmth
Envying all people lost in slumbers within their rooms
As I walked to perform some fool’s errand…
