Poetry.
Ice laced sparkling pine trees permeate the crisp air with their fragrance,
As each little child excitedly writes his “Dear Santa” letter.
The hustle and bustle of shoppers is in everyones’ glance,
The Shopkeepers’ fret and barter their wares as they think theirs the better.
The aroma of cinnamon wafts from every household as moms’
and grandmas’ bake pies made from newly ripened apples,
Dads’ and grandpas’ prepare the wood for the season’s first fire.
Sleepy eyes fight to stay awake as the little children are tucked into their quilt-covered beds,
Tomorrow the adults dream as prayers are said to cherish and grow,
A quiet hum about the city resides, also parked sleds.
Sweet dreams all, and may no one experience sorrow,
Because Christmas is just around the corner,
As all the wonder of gifts opened with their perky bows await.
