Lord, when I get to my place of work, please help me not
To stop by the cafeteria for a thirty minute coffee break.
Help me to get to my desk and stay there without making
A detour to the magazine and donut stand. Lord, help
Me not to fall asleep at my desk while pretending to
Shuffle papers around, because I would much rather
Be at home watching my favorite soap opera and eating
Bon bons.
Help me to feel guilty about those two hour lunches that
I take every day; help me not to complain about the work
On my desk because I have done nothing all day, except
Trying to figure out away to get out of my duties and
Responsibilities which are expected of me. Lord, please
Help me to explain that report that was given to me a
Month ago, and is due to be on my boss’s desk the first
Thing in the morning, why I have no idea where it is, and
No hope of ever finding it, Amen.
