When you’ve been together as long as you and I

Things won’t always be as easy as identifying the color of the sky.

There may even be times when you think it’s time to call it quits.

But, you can be sure, when that time comes, I will not submit.

No matter what happens, no matter what has you heading to the door.

I’ll be willing to stand my ground because you are worth fighting for.

This is an awful world sometimes, full of confusion.

There will be hurt feelings and people willing to twist those for their own gain and amusement.

You’re a beautiful woman and there will be plenty of those acting like sharks waiting for a slaughter.

Hoping for me to slip up so they can convince you to test the water.

I’ll make mistakes, but you can bet I’ll be chasing those sharks away with a two-by-four.

Because your love is worth fighting for.

There are some that will say I’m insane.

They’ll tell me my devotion to you will leave me beaten and drained.

The wolves at our door will eventually tear us apart

And I’ll end up with nothing when you finally break my heart.

Even if that’s the case, I’ll stand up to those wolves until my last drop of blood is spilled on the floor.
