Sometimes writers face the annoying case of the writer’s block. This poem is about the experience when writer’s block falls upon the writer.

“Writer’s Block”

A trembling hand tries to leave its mark
Unable to brush the empty paper
But even though it’s filled with spark
The mixed emotions seem greater
Than what the face reveals to others
With prints which hide behind the mask
The dripping ink, it only smothers
The page that’s crippled on the desk
The vines of words bursting to spread
Are being blocked by haunting fear
Remain locked inside my head
When they will leave remains unclear

You have effectively shared the experience of “writer’s block,” Lena. I don’t think I would like that feeling at all. I don’t “expect” or try to “force” myself to write. I wait for it to come to me so, in a sense, I am not certain that it is I who am actually coming up with the writing. Also, that is probably why I don’t write very much. Thank you for sharing this.

I didn’t think my response went through. Lena, I loved this. What writer could not identify with this? Finally, after all the years I’ve been writing, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to bring me out of this Writer’s Block. But your Poem was beautifully put and spot on.
