These tips seem to come up again and again.

Write what you want. Trust your instincts and write what is in your heart.

Opening paragraph needs a hook to grab the reader and keep them interested.

After opening paragraph, the first five pages are critical. Make sure they have no spelling or grammatical errors.

Use “said” 95% of the time.

SHOW DON’T TELL!

Beware of adverb and adjective abuse.

The main character needs to have a problem to solve.

The stronger your antagonist the stronger your story.

The reader must care about the character.

One point of view per scene.

Start as close as possible to the action.

Beware using coincidences to get your main character out of trouble.

End each chapter with a hook OR plot complication.

Use the five senses.
