An unemployed young man walks down endless pedestrian sidewalks with a shoe yawning in the front tired of unending walks searching for a job.
He walks down the asphalted pebbled sidewalk
His head hung low in dejection, a defeated stoop in the shoulders
Aimlessly walking like a vagrant, his face gaunt in
The fading dim light of the twilight with the dying day
As he kicked the stones scattered in the road
On his reluctantly falling feet are shod shoes
Torn and tattered, dusty, with a yawning mouth
As if the shoe has emitted the last shreik of exhaustion
After reaching to the end of its tether
Having walked along unending dark alleys on hurrying feet
Or being dragged and kicked without remorse in frustration
His eyes are dim like dark vacant hollows without a twinkle
His lips are dry nd his throat parched for a draught of water
All fluorescent dreams spun in the growing years are broken
Feet are wounded by walking on fragments of shattered dreams
Living a nightmare from dawn to dusk and beyond
Pining for a morsel of bread, struggling for a few pennies
Lulling the raging hunger in the stomach’s furnace to sleep
With sips of water and stale bread bought at a bargain
Hope still survives in some dark corner of the heart
Enduring all vagaries of life with a courageous smile
The shoe is like his dignity all broken, vanity all torn
Silently begging for a chance to earn a living with pride
It symbolising his dying dreams, and wailing heart…
