Another piece from my blog series.

Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to my blog. I hope that all of you had a great holiday. This is the Year in Review for 2007. I am happy to bring this to you. In this blog, I will discuss events that impacted not only me but others in 2007. So, with that said, let’s get started. What can you say about this year? It has been one heck of a year as far as event wise. For me, this year has not been the best. I can honestly say that some parts of this year were horrible. Let’s go into greater detail about that. I would say that the latter part of this year was the worse. Bad events just kept on piling and piling on the plate with a stress level that can only be solved with a good old fashioned headache. Why do I say this? Well, it seems coming into early September; I was ready for anything that was coming my way. This all changed when the curve balls started. First it was a horrid mess with me and my ex girlfriend. It really did not work out as well as it should. I ended up being dumped, but I kicked back from that. However, not everyone did. I am just going to say this about that situation. It is not good when you get your friends involved in your personal life. From that, the bad karma started to hit me and it almost affected my academics. I survived this semester without any harm to me or my friends, but it taught me a huge lesson that I should be careful who I trust because sometimes friends can take advantage of your hospitality. That was the part that was horrid for me and I am thankful because that was the worst things that happen to me in the year. Now, lets get to the good part of this year. As far as academics go, I did better to close out this semester. Classes were hard but I came with a goal of beating all my friends in grade point average. That turned out to be only a fantasy but it motivated me in terms of work ethic. The world events this year have had a great impact on everyone. I know that in sports, the events this year have left fans all over the country speechless. From the Red Sox wining the World Series to Appalachian State beating Michigan in week one of the college football season, it has been a crazy year in sports. It is one that all fans will remember for a long time. In relation to that, let’s take a moment to remember the fallen persons that left us this year. In the sports world, the one that sticks out to me is the death of Redskin’s Safety Sean Taylor. No one knew that it was coming and my heart certainly goes out to his family for the shocking loss. Moving on to another topic, I am happy to say that I have gain many friends outside of campus this year. Now, many of you reading this are from campus and might be saying what the heck? Let me go into something, when you see your friends each day for five months, it can be a little of overkill. However, when you do not see your friends for six days and they wonder why you will not call them, it can be a little frustrating when they are mad at you or they make up lies that the friendship is over if you do not talk to them. So, I ventured out because I learned that you can not always hang out with one set of friends each night. You have to give space to them. Moving on to another topic lets go into predictions for 2008. Honestly, I do not know what will happen next year. This makes the world so great. The fact that the world is unpredictable and you do not know what will happen. What I do know at this time next year, I will be in the same desk, writing about what happened in 2008. Speaking of that, let’s predict how I will do academically and socially this upcoming year. As far as grades, I plan to do better that I did first semester. I know that I say that and it almost never comes true, but I have a goal set in mind to once again just do the best I can. Again, I can not judge how classes are going to be. I can tell you that I will go into it with a positive work ethic. Socially, I know that I will have the same friends that I always have but it is my feeling that maybe I should try to venture out just a bit and once in a while take a risk within reason. Again, this is not a big need but it would be a nice change. As I look back on the past year, I realized that it has gone away in a flash. I am happy that this year is over because a lot of things need to change. Now, I am not just saying that because it affects me, but I am saying that for all over the world. A lot of people possibly feel the same as I do. Just an update, I started writing this blog over the weekend and now it’s Monday and some change has happened. If you read my blog over the past year, you will know that I always referred to the Baltimore Ravens Divisional Playoff game from this past January. In a change of events, the Ravens today fired their head coach. Since January, the Ravens have looked poor on both sides of the ball. Now, you can say that it was because injuries but when you do not have any offensive production since yesterday, you will create problems. Now, I am in different to this. For one, I liked the coach and his style but I believe that he lacked a great game plan. Now, it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the ending point of my year in review for 2007. I want to thank each and every person for taking the time to read. I hope that I have given you insight about some of the events in 2007. Look for more blogs in the coming year and plenty more news updates from me. Until next time ladies and gentlemen, This is Nick Manzione signing off and saying Welcome to the year 2008.
