Show me what I’m looking for…

My heart is twisted and torn
Too many years of painful loneliness
Too many distant moons
The shadows are forlorn

A patient watchful guard
Stops by once in awhile
To make sure you know
Love doesn’t have to be
This hard

Years of forgotten tears
Are indecipherable
To the novice ears
Blurred and incomprehensible
To the ambivalence
Of an indifferent world

You sit in solitude
At that fine café table
One glance at you
One chance to see
And at last I’m found

Silently I make a prayer
A promise made for two
As distance extends
A compassionate hand
To express tenderness
And a heart that understands

In the evening breeze
My heart speaks
On bended knee

I’ll wait for you
Until the setting
Of a thousand suns
Until the mountains kiss
The parting rivers’ motion
Embracing countless streams
And moving oceans

Proposing the vow
Of true love’s eternal devotion

And even when the suns have set
The glow remains of when we met.
For Love and Divinity are but one
Far brighter than those thousand suns
