Is a marriage contract for life? Read how marriage or a relationship may be taken for granted.

“Yes and No”

 At eighteen I say I do;

I sign a contract for two;

The church bells ring–

The angels sing–

My heart goes zing–

Oh, what marvels married love can bring!

Then, the nuptial nest goes empty:

He is sour, blunt, and carefree;

How can love be free

If the heart is for three?

At twenty I take the stand:

Bells, angels, and hearts I can’t understand;

The Judge hands down the verdict:

Love is  free, I’m not a  convict.

But, God, what is yes I do

If the new contract is a no-no?  ####

    I was just saying to a friend how people shouldn’t tie the knot because society says so. This paints the picture for that talk. Thank`you . j

    You describe so many marriages these days. There is no sanctity in marriage any more. It is so sad and you express the feelings so well in this poem.

    We can’t always get what we want from life. . There’s a “no”.
