My attempt at a haiku :)

I’m no literate artist, nor a real poet. So forgive me for any mistakes, I didn’t use any moras or something, I just simply counted syllables according to a 5-7-5 scheme, as I learned on my high school.I hope you like it!

I’m not very familiar with haiku I only know it must have 17 syllables. I think you did well for a starters.

Well, it really depends on who writes it as far as I know.
Original Japanese people count moras, which is something similar to syllables but really a hard abstract description to get a grip on.

So western people usually count syllables. According to a 5-7-5 scheme.

I’m a starter indeed and if I am misinformed I’d appreciate any feedback :)

    Really sad…. I thought it was 7-5-7 I guess I was mistaken.

Critics will say this is a senryu and not a haiku. Haiku is usually seasonal and about nature – unless you count human nature. Plus the last line has one too many syllables if you’re going by the 5-7-5 format. Japanese is a completely different language than English – one uses characters (Kanji) while the others uses the alphabet. But I ain’t no critic and certainly no haiku or any type of poetry expert. :P

    Haah a very nice comment!
Yep you’re right it’s a senryu, I wasn’t aware of that term and though I was aware of the seasonal character of Haiku, I didn’t thought it minded :)

For the syllables, I used http://www.wordcalc.com/index.php to count my syllables, and it said the last sentence contained 5.
