Written August 8th, 2008.

Today I looked you in the eyes
“Do you promise you’re mine forever?”
You held me in your arms so tight
“I promised you my heart, remember?”

I smiled and leaned against you
Imagining life with us together
And in that very moment
You promised me forever

The future lies in our own hands
It’s mine and yours to plan
I promised you my life, my love.
I’m your girl and your my man.

If you ever wish to leave me
I said I would never say never
But in the event you’d try and go
Remember, you promised me forever.

And when we’re walking down the aisle
Vowing to forever together
I’ll smile at you and kiss your lips
Remember, you promised forever

And when we’re ready to have children
And life is taking us wherever
I’ll squeeze your hand and call your name saying
“Remember, you promised forever”

Maybe someday we’ll buy a home
Where we’ll grow old and grey together
Watching as our babies grow
This is just a part of forever.

And when I’m lying on my bed
The last breath leaving my lips
I’ll hold your hand so gently
And kiss your finger tips

I’ll smile at you with my dying eyes
Ending our journey together
I’ll pull you down, kiss your lips
And whisper “Thank you for forever”

This is what I imagine
When I think of us together
I hope this really happens
Since you promised me forever.
