A poem of moving forward.

Your name still lives on the tip of my tongue,

I’m still rattled when you’re near,

My heart still wishes you were here,

I still love you like no other,

But I’m moving on like you told me to.

Living my life I use to dream I’d live with you,

My soul is nothing more than sparking pieces of shattered glimpses of the past,

The result of you saying goodbye.

All the hopes I had blew away like ashes in the wind,

Even though my eyes fill with tears at the thought of the love you never returned,

I’ll still be strong as I move on like you told me to.

I use to think you were scared,

That deep down inside you cared too,

You just needed time to feel secure,

Now I know it was just wishful thinking,

That I was just living a lie.

I have finally given in,

I’ve given up on what I thought was real,

In time I’ll put the pieces back together,

Find that one who will cherish what I have to give,

Leaving behind all those sweet memories of the two of us,

Just like you told me to.
