I wrote this poem about 10 years ago, when I was going through a divorce. I didn’t post it because this is personal. It was written with my ex-husband in mind, who has now passed away. We married when I was 19, an age when my world revolved around him. I didn’t feel comfortable sharing this poem when it was first written, but now that time has changed and so has my mind.
I became your everlasing loving fool,
giving you,
you,
Everything I had,
everything
I gave you my heart,
my soul
You took away my dreams,
my innocence
innocent dreams
My innocent dreams
I was so naive
to believe
in you
My world circled around fairy tales,
I dreamed and danced,
In candyland with jelly beans
lollipops
large red hearts with arrows of love
Floating in the sky
Then you came
My everlasting loving prince
to be with me forever
my night in shining armor
Not as a man with controlling power,
love is blind
I was a fool
Your fool
I looked past the lies believing fantasy of truths
The God opened my eyes
