A poem that was written for my pastor as he visited me in my hospital bed and when I was feeling poorly …. it set me thinking that the most valuable sset that each of us posess is our time ….. please use yours wisely.

you own no gold or riches
yet you always wear a smile
on that face now so familiar
you are our God’s most heavenly child

I thank you my friend for listening
for lending an ear when I was down
for lifting my spirits from floor level
and for calling when no one else was around

you showed me much compassion
and I knew you understood
you turned my mind from darkness
as I now know that you only could

you have allowed me to see a future
one full of hope and without strife
as I proceed to unwrap the layers
the layers that had formed my life

I see there is a brighter future
and one that can fulfil my soul
one that is pure and peaceful
my life is now my clearer goal

you have taught me many lessons
each one I now hold dear
I value all your acquaintance
I will keep you forever near

you are my saintly saviour
my one true loyal friend
I will never forsake or doubt you
until my very end

I will use the tools and time you gave me
to lift up lonely souls
from depths of deep depressions
and with something strong to hold

you’ve taught me that the giving of your time, it is your riches
and you are the wealthiest man I know
I’ve banked my entire tomorrow
and I, like you, want my investment to grow

so don’t look back discontented
when you stand at the pearly gates
stand proud and tall and keep smiling
for i’m sure your wealth will forever radiate
