An ode to a picture or, more so, the person whose face graces it.

Your picture beside my bed
Time flies when I look at it
At first
You just see your smile
So at peace
So proud
So happy
This was taken on a good day
At least a year before your life bottomed out
Then again
Your eyes are what make my heart pound
So intense
So deep
So full of everything that makes me weak
I fell in love with your “Italian face” the first time I met you
Shiny from perspiring on an unusually warm September day
You always look at home in your surroundings
You coax the elements
Embrace the walls
Light is drawn to you
I follow the light
You didn’t know me in this picture
For me you were still just a story that always intrigued me, but I never knew why
One day
We will pose together
On our wedding day
With our unborn child
At our guy’s Graduation
Squeezed in with others at a party
Or simply a candid taken when we’re not looking
I will cherish that picture
A thousand words won’t be enough
