Zesty Orange a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay. A poem of inspiration.

Zesty Orange

Evangelean peeled her orange

and began to cry  for

 her soul had been pulverized.

 Her thoughts had been revealed

 and her secrets had been

 exposed.

 Now she felt as if

 her sanctuary had been gone

 from her world.

 So as she peeled

 her perfect fruit,

 she wished that her life

 was flawless.

 And it wasn’t,

yet the zest of her fruit

 was suddenly pouring

 into her life

 and making her see that

 perhaps she could go on

 and survive.

 Nobody could take her zest

 away from her.

 She popped the fruit

 into her mouth

 and shoved the secrets

 back into their drawer.

 No more secrets.

 Or so she would think.
