Odysseus:  Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity. And so we ask ourselves: will our actions echo across the centuries? Will strangers hear our names long after we are gone, and wonder who we were, how bravely we fought, how fiercely we loved? [Troy]

Achilles:  I’ll tell you a secret. Something they don’t teach you in your temple. The Gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment might be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again.

Briseis:  I thought you were a dumb brute.  It would have been easier to forgive a dumb brute.  [Troy]

Achilles:  You are still my enemy in the morning.

Priam:  You are still my enemy tonight, but even enemies can show respect. [Troy]

Priam:  I have fought many wars in my time.  Some I’ve fought for land, some for power, some for glory.  I suppose fighting for love makes more sense than all the rest. [Troy]

Robert the Bruce:  I respect what you said but remember, these men have lands and castles.  Its much to risk.

William Wallace:  And the common man, who bleeds on the battlefield, does he risk less? [Braveheart]

Robert the Bruce:  Lands, title, men, power, nothing.

Robert’s Father:  Nothing!?

Robert the Bruce:  I have nothing. Men fight for me because if they do not, I throw them off my land and I starve their wives and children.  The men who bled the ground red at Falkirk, they fought for William Wallace, and he fights for something I never had.  And I took it from him when I betrayed him.  I saw it in his face on the battlefield and its tearing me apart.

Robert’s Father:  All men betray.  All lose heart.

Robert the Bruce:  I don’t wanna lose heart!  I want to believe as he does! [Braveheart]

Young William:  I can fight.

William’s Father:  I know you can fight, but its our wits that make us men [Braveheart]
