A short anecdote about putting your soul into your art.

How great is it to know, that I can write anything I want, and I know that it will be published! The problem is, I get paid just pennies for all the work that I put in. But as my home skillet Benjamin Franklin once said, “a penny saved is a penny earned” and nowhere else in the world, will you find this more evident as in the world of blogging. Because indeed, I’ve worked my arse off for pennies. literally pennies. It’s OK though, because I know, that within a year, I’ll put the nay sayers to rest with my art.

It’s just a little bit tough though. I guess it’s like having a radio show or something, you have to find what works, and stick with it. And maybe it’s a little bit about how you present things. I haven’t found the secret to great amounts of traffic yet, and maybe I never will, but it doesn’t matter to me anymore. I write ’cause I like it, and I like what I write. Marilyn Manson once said, to be a good writer, you have to be different. Write things that no ones ever written before. I maybe paraphrasing a little,  but maybe he’s right. I kinda feel like determination is a big part of it as well.

I think I’m pretty determined. Maybe I’m not this great “hard worker” in the traditional sense, but I have a pretty strong goal, and I figure, as long as I keep writing, the ideas will never run out. It’s my right shoulder that I believe will give out before my ideas. But I digress. Do I lack motivation? Maybe. I’m thinkin’ that’s gotta be it, because I’m putting my soul into my art, and I haven’t seen any luck. Then again, some of my favorite artists have done the same, and only seen success after death. I don’t even have to give you a list of those kinds of artists.

Maybe I should look to them for motivation? Allot of them have this old English style of writing like Edgar Allen Poe, and William Shakespear. The majority of their style I believe has to do with the bible. The bible is very influential, not just on people’s morals, and spiritual beliefs, but the whole English language. I’m not one of those hardcore Christians who push their beliefs on everyone and their mom, but it’s a good book. I’ll just say that. Indeed, it’s a writing style  that I’d like to pursue.
