Big L is a lyrical genius.

Lamont Coleman known as Big L, an American rapper was born in New York. Big L wasn’t as famous as Tupac or Biggie but he was as good or even better. Who ever heard of Big L rap, they were interested in his lyrics. Always talking about money, cars, clothes and hoes, what Big L did and was very good at was double rhyming. Here are some examples:

“Im known to have a hottie open, I keep the shottie smokin
Front and get half the bones in your body broken” – Big L – Put it on

“If you battle l you picked the wrong head
I smash mics like cornbread, you cant kill me I was born dead” – Big L – Put it on

“Ls the ni**a that crime follows
Im hittin fine models and stabbin punks with broken wine bottles” – Big L – Dangerzone

Big L was born on May 30, 1974. He was only in high school when he got introduced to rap. He started freestyling to himself whenever he had time and finally came to finding a group called DITC. The group loved the way he spoke his lyrics and got him in. Soon with the help of Lord Fineese, Diamond D and Showbiz he made a album called “Lifestylez ov da Poor and Dangerous”. It reached top 25 on billboards.

Big L started working on his 2nd album called “The Big Picture” but he couldn’t make it. He was shot down by his house taking 8 shots in. Big L died on February 15, 1999. They found a childhood friend of Big Ls (Gerald Woodley) and took him as the killer but the case was dismissed and the Case is till mysterious. There are many rumors for why he died as: he was mistaken for his brother, it was an accident, he deserved it, etc.

To me I think Big L didn’t deserve it at all as he didn’t “trash talk” about anyone on any of his songs, and as the LAPD officer said Big L didn’t have any criminal records.

People still enjoy Big L’s music and who ever havent you should take a look at it and I guarantee if you like rap, you will LOVE Big L.

These are the best 3 songs i think Big L have made but there are more like DangerZone, M.V.P. and Deadly Combination. After Big L died, they put out more of his songs because Big L had recorded many acapellas and they released them.

Now I dont think there is anyone who can make up the stuff Big L did and have strong punch lines or funny metaphors as he did. He was a lyrical genius who has created many songs I enjoy listening to and I hope everyone does too. Rest In Peace Big L

He was shot before he could make it famous, but lyrical genius? Maybe. A Battle rapper doesn’t make a good MC.
