I was given this assignment for school as a test grade and I’m a little worried.
Nora:
But Torvald I‘ve always loved you more than anything and you know that!
Helmer:
Pish- posh! Quiet down before the children hear you and get infected. You have ruined everything! I do not want to see you- ever!
Nora:
I will leave then! If that’s what you want.
Helmer:
[laughs with rage] Oh will you! And where will you go-a helpless creature like you?
Nora:
[looks around] I-I-
Helmer:
Nora just go to your room. I have no use for you anymore-
Nora:
I will kill myself then!
Helmer:
Nora! Stop at once! What has gotten in to you?
Nora:
I will lock myself in my room just like Dr Rank and you won’t ever have to deal with me again!
Helmer:
Oh is that your plan! Go to it then! You’re wasting time!
[Nora runs to her room and slams the door shut. She looks around as if looking for something. She slides down against her door and starts sobbing. The whole house is quiet almost as if stopped by time. Nora gets up, sits on her bed and stares at a drawer in her room. One of the children wakes up and smiles, as if from a happy dream. The child quietly skips to Nora’s room]
Child:
Mother? [ knocks on the door]I brought you something. Mrs. Linde gave it to us and I want you to have it-Mother?
[The child gets tired of waiting and decides to leave the gift against the door knob of Nora’s door. The child then skips back to the room. There’s silence in the house again. A thud is heard in Nora’s room. A pretty porcelain doll falls to the ground and shatters.]
