A script about a teenage boy who is misunderstood and mocked. Everyone around him causes his descent, which leads him to murder.
The scene quickly changes to JONAH close to his high school and it’s deserted. The camera is still following behind JONAH. He veers off the road and onto the pavement. He turns left and walks up the long, wide pathway, to the school entrance. He almost runs or up the stairs of the entrance and then pushes one side of the double doors forcefully. The camera stops outside of the school and the door swings back slowly.
22 INT. – HIGH SCHOOL CLASSROOM – DAY 22
MR. REED sits, hunched over, at his desk. He’s marking papers and drinking coffee and after a short while he lifts his head up and rubs his eyes and temples and then yawns. As he does this a blurry image of JONAH standing at the door, just outside the room, comes into view. MR. REED sees him out the corner of his eye and is very stunned.
MR. REED
God’s sake, Jonah! Kill me why don’t ya.
(Holds a hand to his chest to calm himself)
What are you doing here?
(High-pitched, confused, irritated)
The camera focuses from behind JONAH, to the side, so MR. REED is in the shot and he has an incredulous expression as he stares at JONAH, frowning.
The camera changes position to focus on MR. REED from the floor next to his desk.
MR. REED
Will you come back later please?
(Annoyed)
You can find out in class that you’ve failed.
(Bitter tone)
Sorry.
(Unapologetic tone)
He shuffles through papers on his desk and then stops suddenly and gets up very slowly.
MR. REED
What are you doing?
(Slight panic)
The camera spins around on the floor and a blurry image of JONAH is walking into the room with a knife in his hand that he holds close to his side. JONAH walks up to the camera so his shoes and the door are only in the shot.
MR. REED
Jonah…I suggest…
(Quietly, but very scared)
MR. REED cries out and guttural sounds of him choking are heard and he falls to the floor so that he is between the camera and JONAH’s feet. His eyes are open and are fixed in the rough direction of the camera and blood starts to slowly drip from the wound on his neck and spread toward the camera. The comic strip JONAH worked on falls onto MR. REED’s face, so he’s hidden, and a part of it lands on the blood and a portion of the paper stains quickly. The last panel of the comic strip in the corner is missing from being ripped off. In the panels, the speech bubbles are empty. The rest of the shot is blurry apart from the comic and MR. REED and JONAH walks away and out the door casually.
