A Sci-Fi comedy about aliens curious about what human beings do.
(Obviously eager)
Good morning Coach Jacobs! The guy I told you about over the phone is now here with me!
The coach bent over the table and busy going over some contracts, seemingly not pleased at the sight of the scout, looks up a bit and motions them with one hand to come in.
Please take your seat, I’ll be done with this in a minute.
(raising a little from his seat)
Contracts huh? We might just be signing a new one before the day is over!
The coach raises his head again a bit and gives a sarcastic look at the scout then goes back over the papers. After two minutes, the coach leans back on his high back swivel office chair. . .
(With a measuring look at the aliens)
Okay, which one… obviously not this short fellow!
Scout points to Sean seated beside him, the other two aliens across.
This is my man… my man!
Hmmmmm… short of six feet or just six flat.
Six flat.
Well, what can he do? How good is he at it?
We can go to your gym and see it for yourself!
Without any word, the coach gets up and motions to them “after you”.
Leading them into the gym, Dan Hill looks back at the three, making a thumbs up sign. The three look at each other and with their hands, first gestures a dirty finger then the thumbs up. The scout is surprised with their response. Going near them. .
(Acting he is pissed off)
And what exactly do you three mean by that!?!
What?!
(The hand gestures again)
This?
Okay, so what did I do wrong to deserve that?
Nothing.
The scout waves off his hand in front of him and proceeds to where the ball is. The coach settles himself in one of the lower bleachers, just behind the players’ bench.
The scout throws the ball to Sean with one hand . . .
(Very proudly)
Okay, show the coach what stuff you’re made of!
From mid-court, Sean dribbles a little nearer, fires a three- pointer and “SWISH”, nothing but net. Hill runs over to recover the ball, throws it back to Sean who is still beyond the three-point arc. Then five more in succession beyond the three-point arc. From the last shot, Hill motions up in the air, and throws the ball and peaks above the free throw line. Sean flies up in a trajectory to get the ball and end up stuffing the ball in the ring. Scout recovers, bounces the ball off the board. Sean coming from the opposite side, over jumps and catches the ball just below his crotch. His momentum gets him over and past the ring, so he dives and does a reverse slam! The coach, meanwhile, is half bent over the rail, holding onto it, his jaw all the way down, and eyeballs jutting out of their sockets. He had never seen anything like that in his life, a combination of Jordan and Dr. J! Meantime, Sean hasn’t stopped recovering the ball himself and making all the shots. Hill knowing the show must be over…
