This was my speech for graduation. I was the senior class chaplain.
Good Evening. I am Brandi Williams. I am the Chaplain for the class of 2003. At this time, I would like to observe a moment of prayer and meditation. Please stand and bow your heads.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day that you have blessed us with, for every breath we breathe is a gift from you. Today we come to you to say thank you. Father, we wouldn’t have been able to make it this far without your constant guidance and advice. I pray that you keep your hand on us that we may live to reach our goals and dreams. May we never know the word failure in our lives. Lord, we give to you our futures that we may succeed in everything we do. Let us never forget our roots of Smiths Station. Thank you for letting us overcome our differences and become one. We are the class of 2003 and we will not be forgotten. Thank you, father, for my family- Smiths Station Seniors of 2003. We honor you and praise you.
In Jesus Name we pray.
Amen.
The thoughts of our past
Happiness and sadness come in mind today
We walk this green field
These tracks will be imprinted forever
Thinking back to the memories we’ve shared
Walking through the halls with smiles
Taking this life for granted
We walk to the podium, they hand us our world
In the palm of our hands this diploma
Never again will we stand in these walls
We will only look through a window
This day seems so unreal as we think of
How fast life has passed us by
I’m truly glad we savored these moments,
For we know now that they wouldn’t last
We thank our teachers for testing our limits
We thank our enemies for giving us character
We thank our parents for not being fair
The past is who we are and will always be
Distilled in us is a seed of life
We will never forget the good ol’ days…
But our childhood has run out
We must stand as adults, not as children
To be the leaders of the future
For we know now that life is really in our hands…
We are the class of 2003.
Thank you very much. You may be seated.
