The Importance of Being Earnest Act four. This was not written by Oscar Wilde.
Jasper: This is Jack. Jack, this is Vienna and Jasmine. Jack and I knew each other as children. Today is the first time we’ve met in years.
Vienna: It is nice to meet you Jack. Jasper, would you like to dance? My feet are begging me to dance and I know you are a very good dancer.
Jasper: Of course I would love to dance with you. *Jasper looks at Jack and nods once* Have fun!
Jack: *Jack is tense* So… What is your relation with Jasper?
Jasmine: Jasper and I went to the same school. We rarely see each other anymore, so it was a surprise to see him here today. *Jasmine squints her eyes and sees her best friend Annabeth along with another person* Annabeth! What are you doing here?
Annabeth: Jasmine! How absurd it is to see you here. Who is your friend?
Jasmine: This is Jack. Jack and I have only just met each other through Jasper. And your friend is?
Annabeth: Bunbury, this is my friend Bunbury. *Jack looks at Annabeth and then at the person standing next to Annabeth*
Jack: *Agitated* Bunbury! *Jack tears of his mask* I thought you got rid of Bunbury! You had promised me that Algy! What are you doing here?
Algernon: Jack? *Algernon takes off his mask* I ask you the same question. What are you doing here? I think I should be able to decide for myself whether I do or don’t go under my own name. That is a matter which you shouldn’t interfere with.
Jack: I was forced to come to this stupid party by an old friend of mine. You still haven’t given your reason to why you’re here.
Algernon: To speak quite candidly I came here to have some fun. It’s been such a long time since I’ve been to a masquerade, so I decided to go today. *Algernon thinks* Did Gwendolen allow you to come here?
Jack: Gwendolen doesn’t know about this. I didn’t know about this till this afternoon. Has Cecily, my ward *Jack puts emphasis on “my ward”* given you the permission required to come here tonight?
Algernon: I’m afraid not.
Jasmine: You’re both married? *Annabeth and Jasmine exchange looks* I think it’s time for Annabeth and I to leave. *Annabeth and Jasmine walk off*
Jack: I knew it was a bad idea- a very bad idea to come here.
Algernon: I knew this day was going to be fun, but then you came along. *Algernon smiles* Should we call it a day?
Jack: As long as Gwendolen doesn’t find out about this. Yes, let’s call it a day. *Jack and Algernon leave the masquerade and go home*
