A self written monologue used as a final project for a class at school. Enjoy.
Girl: (A girl stands before a mirror silent for a few seconds, perhaps fixing her hair or checking make-up.) Stop looking at me! (Silent again, she breaks the mirror.) That’s just where you belong, in pieces…where nobody can see you. I see you though and I’m ashamed! You always meet my eyes and stare. You never speak, you just get me rejected! You are proof, proof that I have to live with everyday.(beat) Do you see yourself? You are the biggest screw up. You’re ugly and stupid and I hate you!! How can you stand so close to me and do nothing? Why won’t you change…why won’t you give me something to be proud of? You still don’t say anything; you just stare back, mocking me! (Beat to realize and calm.) Oh god…look at this mess…What is mom going to say when she sees this? Do you see what you’ve done? I hope you’re happy…
