A fun filled story about a party with friends and a twist.

1

Trent won the lottery, what an amazing thing, the joy and freedom it would allow.  The debauchery and parties and that magnificent stone estate on the top of the hill.  For months Trent called his closest friends to come up and to share in sweet drinks and times under the starlight looking down over the city.

Lizette was invited to the latest party as an afterthought.  Just some girl who Trent had drug home the night before and who had hung around the estate all day.  A common occurrence as Trent couldn’t get enough of living life.  He lived it every night, every day, trying desperately to fill the void inside himself.  But no matter how much money he shoveled his life remained empty.  It was just before the party that Lizette whispered in his ear.  A plan that would provide so much excitement for Trent, how could he pass it up.

People arrived and soon there were eleven of Trent’s good friends there with he and Lizette.  All out on the deck the city full of lights twinkling down below them.  They all sat at a large table upon beautifully gilded chairs.  Drinking, laughing into the night until soon there was no one who wasn’t quite drunk.  Lizette was such a good hostess Trent thought, he never asked it of her but she prepared all the drinks and passed them out as people asked for them.  What a wonderful night it was.  The world seemed far more vivid than ever before.  It was then he felt the soft tap at his shoulder and looked up into Lizette’s glistening dark eyes.  She smiled down as she offered the cloth wrapped revolver down to him and told him to not worry, she had unloaded it.

Eleven pairs of eyes looked to Trent as he unwrapped the cloth and lifted the silvery 12 shot revolver he had recently purchased.  He thought for a moment how strange he felt and just how much more laughter and chaos there felt to be in all of his friends and himself tonight.  It was just too hard to think, Trent held the revolver up for them to see as he announced the game they would play!  Russian roulette, one bullet in this 12 shot and whichever of them didn’t make it through the night would be remembered forever.  Trent lifted the muzzle to his temple and smiled out to them.  His heart pounded with excitement despite his brain being muddled as he pulled down on the trigger and heard the distinct click of the empty chamber.
