A true story about a young teenage girl who had not been to school in one full month. The content explains how she got herself in a huge mess and about where she came from and why she is making wrong choices.

On the morning of May 28th 2010 I received a call from my cousin. Her voice was deeper than usual. I said “Shay what is wrong with you?” She said “Malia has not been to school in over a month”.  “WTF”, I said. “Why? Where has she been? Where is she now?” “I don’t know”, my cousin said.  “What are you gonna do?”, I said. “I don’t know” she said.

After we finished our call, I thought long and hard about what my cousin said.  I was very disturbed to hear such news. It is overwhelming for me because I know that both Shay (mother) and Malia (daughter) have been through so much these last couple of years. These struggles have now taken there toll on the family.

Malia was taken from Shay by The Administration of Children Services here in New York City about a year ago. Shay had got upset and yelled and cursed out a security guard at Malia’s School. Which, caused them to call

            .

ACS on her.  Shay then rubbed the ACS worker the wrong way and they removed Malia from the home.

Shay went to court and complied with the courts wishes and just got Malia back 3 months ago. Now Shay has a new up hill battle because she has no idea why her daughter is not attending School. Shay is not sure what steps she should take next. I told her to call the police. Anyone that would allow a child to hide out in there house for a month, when that child should be in school, is a criminal and should be treated as such.

My husband said that it must be something wrong at home for the girl to be so troubled. I said yes it is some thing wrong. They are dirt, dirt, poor and who wants to be that way. Not the mother and not the daughter. It effects how they respond to people and it causes them both to make very poor choices.
