Investigates the social and cultural history of Australia during the 1970s through and acting script of two disco friends. The topics of music, technology (radio, television, walkmans), lifestyle behaviour, fashion, Saturday Night Fever, the BEE GEES and disco culture are explored in this analysis.

IVAN                     Enough of this television, I’m bored. Have you noticed my nifty bits of electronics on me? I mean, check out my new 8 inch floppy disk, state of the art in computing technology. It holds a massive 237.5 kilobytes of memory.

TAYLOR                That’s sooo much! Totally radical dude!

IVAN                     Yeah, it’s making life so much easier to carry round all my computer documents and stuff when I go to work.

TAYLOR                Well, check out my new cassette player, bought it in 79, latest thing on the market. Pretty hip. I can now listen to all my favourite artists on the move! (Puts headphones in and listens)

IVAN                     (Pretends to ignore what Ivans saying as he’s listening to music)I’ve noticed though, that like no one talks on the bus, train or anywhere anymore? They’ve all got there walkmans on and too busy listening to their music, but at least it means no ones gonna bother me while I jam out.

TAYLOR                (Take headphones out) Sorry, you were sayin?

IVAN                     (Rolls eyes) Don’t worry, what you listening to now?

TAYLOR                I’ve decided to try out this genre of music, it’s been here for ages but I’ve only started listening to it. It isn’t too bad and it’s even getting me kinda over disco.

IVAN                     Well, what is it then?

TAYLOR                (We will rock you) Ro…roc….rock I think? Pretty weird name, I mean I’ve heard of pet rocks but not rock music? Here take a listen at this band called Queen (We Will Rock You)

IVAN                     Dynamite! Not bad I’d have to say, certainly gives disco music a run for its money. I think I’ll look more into it…

TAYLOR                Oh, will you look at the time? I’ve got to run now, catch you later Casanova Ivan on the dance floors.

IVAN                     Yeah, sure will. See ya later Disco Taylor.
