A story of a boy experiencing his first time being able to stay up all night for new years.
It was the year 2003, on New Years Eve, and it was getting late. It was the first time my parents let me stay up all night for New Years.
I got into my favorite pair of flannel pajamas and got cozy on the couch. New Years Day was approaching fast. We turned on the television to watch the ball drop. I didn’t know what to expect, I was so excited I could hardly contain myself.
I watched the hands of the clock tick to 11:45, 11:55, 11:59, a few more seconds until a new year, and I was still awake! My eyes were glued to the television. The ball started to fall, it was the coolest thing in the world!
Next thing I know it was New Years Day and I got to play with sparklers and confetti poppers. My parents then forced me to bed, I was bummed out. How was I supposed to sleep when I was so happy?! So after a lot of whining and complaining I finally went to sleep.
