A short romantic story.

They smiled at each other and he introduced himself, telling Mary his name was Jack.

There was no sign of the owner of the puppy, however he did have a tag on his collar which fortunately had a phone number. Jack rang the number on his mobile and two minutes later a couple came running to be united with their pet. They’d been looking for him as he’d run off when they let him loose in the park. They were very thankful to Mary and Jack and offered to rake them for a meal sometime soon to repay them for their kindness, they exchanged phone numbers and left.

Mary and Jack laughed about their experience and walked back to their halls at Uni.

She told him how she had hoped to bump into him, after seeing him on the first day and wondered why he hadn’t gone to the bar. He admitted he was feeling to shy and couldn’t gather enough courage to go out to the ‘meet and greet’ session.

Jack invited Mary to his kitchen for a cup of coffee, they sat for hours chatting to each other as if they had been friends for years.

From then on they were inseparable, they enjoyed their university days together, met mutual friends, went to each others houses for holidays, they graduated, married and  are still deeply in love with each other. Both are looking forward to their lives ahead  and to cherish memories of their chance meeting on that rainy day!

This took me back to the first day we took out son to university. he looked so sad and lost as we left. I suppose this is the same for most students when they start out. A very good story.
