She had never been far from home. Now her new husband was moving her 3 states away from the life she knew. Her sister Diana didn’t want her being on her own like that, so her and her husband moved there too. Diana knew what was going through Sissy’s head, because like Sissy, she to had been married off at a early age and like Sissy, she had never told anyone. It wasn’t love that they married for, it was their mother’s wishes.

It wasn’t a house they lived in, it wasn’t even a mobile home. It was more like an over sized camper. Although both men worked, money was short. For 2 weeks all they eat was pineapple sandwiches. It was cheap and taste good, but that got old. 

So much a child was she that she was scared to death of her husband Gene. At night if he came to bed, she got up. No one had told her what was expected of her. All Sissy knew was that her mom had always told them that if you let a boy touch you that you will have a baby. For 4 months it went on like that. Him coming to bed, her getting up. He slept at night, she slept during the day while he was at work.The time came that she finally excepted what she had to do. It only took the one time and mother was right. Nine months later she was giving birth to a healthy baby boy. She was now a mother at age 15.  A child had had a child. A girl grows up fast when they have a little looking to her for care. The love for her husband may not have been there, but the love for this child was very strong. So grow up she did. Gene had wanted a daughter first. He refused to have much to do with his first born. He wasn’t happy at all. Sissy couldn’t make Gene care for his son. She could only hope that with time Gene would love him as much as she does.
