How the World Was Made: According to Eenis
There was nothing in the beginning. Only a single entity; Eenis. He resembled a young George Clooney. Eenis was all powerful, but lonely. He wanted to create something to keep him busy. Eenis decided to create Night and Day. The Night was utterly dark with no way to pierce the blackness. Day was completely blinding and bright. Eenis, in retrospect, thought about how poor of a decision he made to create Night and Day. They were almost entirely useless to him. In an effort to help change Night and Day, he put all of Day’s light into a single object; the sun. Then, he took small bits of the sun and put them into night, making the stars. This helped Eenis appreciate these two much more, but he still had no one to be close to or share experiences with. In pure frustration Eenis screamed out. He screamed so loud and for so long that the Wind was formed. This still was not enough for him, so he began to become angry. His anger led him to rip out his hair and throw it all about. The hair quickly broke down into the Earth. Eenis was happier now. He had something he could touch and feel. However, the Earth was so barren and dry that Eenis began to weep. He wept continuously for days. Slowly, but surely, the Earth began to fill with water. When Eenis finally looked upon the Earth again he was shocked to see the Earth filled with Water. Eenis was so overjoyed that he began to jump all around. Eenis’s jumping created the landscape; from high mountains to low canyons. Eenis was very content now. Yet, there was still something missing. Eenis was still lonely. He decided to create something from himself. He cut off a piece of his ear and threw it into the air. As the ear flew through the air it became a bat. The bat had superior hearing because it was cut from Eenis’s ear. Eenis then removed one of his teeth and let it fall. The tooth fell into the ocean and became a turtle. The turtle had gained a tough outer shell, like the tooth. Finally, Eenis clipped of some of his hair and laid it upon the Earth. From the clump emerged a small mouse. The mouse had warm fur to help protect it. Eenis was overjoyed with his work, but he had nothing to feed his new friends. Eenis took water from the ocean and soil from the earth. The last ingredient in this mixture was a small piece of each animal. He placed some of the mixture in ocean, some in the valleys, on the hills, and on the mountains. When Eenis awoke the next day he found a world of green. The oceans were filled with seaweed, the plains covered in grass, and the mountains thick with forests. However, the new plants weren’t spreading fast enough. So, Eenis decided to flood the earth. The world was struck by large tsunamis. The bat easily flew out of the way, and the turtle was already a natural swimmer. The small mouse however, was in danger. He, however, was fast enough to run around the whole world, evading the flood and saving himself. From the original three animals came more and more. Soon the planet was diverse and full of all types of life. Fish, snakes, lizards, birds, mammals, and insects were all present, and rather jubilant. Eenis knew how splendid this new world was but he still had not filled the hole in his heart. Eenis thought and thought of how he could fix his loneliness. In a sudden spark of inspiration, Eenis cut off his own finger and put it in a cave. He left the cave alone and kept all the animals away from it. Everyday Eenis would talk into the cave. He said everything he could think of. He told of all the animals and plants, he told of how powerful he was and of how the world worked. On the tenth day of speaking into the cave, a full grown woman stumbled out. She was the most beautiful thing Eenis had ever seen. She was very intelligent because of all the things Eenis had taught her. She told him that her name was Clove, and Eenis was immediately taken with her. She, however, was more interested in studying the world around her. Eenis tried everything he could think of. He attempted to court her by giving her gifts and showering her with praise. His next attempt was to give her the power over the oceans, but she didn’t want it. When that didn’t work he gave her the ability of creativity so that she may make her own creations come to life. She became very excited about this, at first. However, her creations were motionless, no matter how well she sculpted or painted them. At this last failure, Eenis had almost given up. He had tried everything in his power to win over Clove, but she wanted no part. Eenis asked his first creations what he should do. Night told him to abandon her, and to make a new woman. Eenis liked the idea. It would be much easier. Day, however, gave him different advice. Day told him to take part of the sun and present the gift to Clove. Although Eenis was fairly certain that this would not work, he decided that he should at least attempt Day’s plan. When Clove awoke the next morning Eenis was waiting for her. He held out the fire cupped in his hand. Clove became mesmerized by it. She tried to touch it, but was instantly burned. Eenis’s immediate thought was that he had failed for the last time, but she was still so mesmerized that her pain was blocked out. Clove had been blessed with Eenis’s ingenuity and left him in the cave to wait. When she returned she had with her a small log. She stuck it into the fire and the fire caught. Clove was so incredibly pleased. With the fire she was able to shape her world. She could keep herself warm and cook her food. She could make tools and with those tools shape her world. With Eenis’s help, they built her a new home. But it was going to be more than a home, Clove finally accepted Eenis’s attractions, and returned them. They were both happy and well. When Clove became pregnant, Eenis could not be happier. Clove, on the other hand, had become moody and irritated. When Eenis asked to move in, Clove flat out refused. Eenis was outraged. He was so irate that he wanted to be somewhere as far away from Clove as he could be. Eenis then created The Heavens high in the sky. He made himself a home in the clouds and made The Heavens the most blissful place in the world. He couldn’t even see Clove or her home from here. He was content with never seeing her again. Yet, when Eenis heard Clove screaming in pain, he rushed to her aid. By the time he reached her, Clove had two babies clutched in her still arms. Clove had died, but the twins were quietly crying in her arms. Eenis scooped up the children and carried them away with him. As he left, he set the house a flame, silently wishing that he had been in time to save his one and only love. Eenis, however, learned to love his children. He named the boy Cinna and the girl Clove, in honor of her mother. He loved them both equally, and taught them all he could. He raised them in The Heavens, and like him, they both became immortal. They were also given the power to create, like their father. Eenis showed Cinna and Clove how to create people of their own. He also gave Cinna the power over Night, and Clove the power over Day. Both Clove and Cinna made new companions. They each decided to marry the new people and brought them to heaven to live with them. After several generations, there were ten more people living in The Heavens. Along with Cinna, Clove, and Eenis, they made thirteen immortals. Plutarch, husband of Clove, was given power over the sea. Cinna’s wife, Katniss, was allowed to rule over fire. Each couple had four children. Gale, Madge, Litmus, and Snow were the sons and daughters of Cinna and Katniss. Each one was allowed to rule over something. They received the wind, the mountains, the trees and the weather, respectively. Clove and Plutarch’s children, Finnick, Rue, Cato, and Haytmitch, were also allowed to rule over something in the world. Finnick was granted the power what swims in the sea, and Cato was granted power over the things that walk the land. Haymitch received the power to rule fire, and finally, the smallest and wisest child of all, was given the power over life and death. Eenis himself was left to rule all else, and those who lived in the realm of The Heavens. Eenis’s decided that no one else would be able to live in the heavens with them. All the children born would be sent to live on Earth. At first, everyone was appalled at this decision. They hated knowing that all of their children would be mortal. Eenis did not change his decision though. He decided that he would give these people an advantage over anything else on the planet. Nothing would be smarter than them on Earth, they would be given fire, and they would forever reflect the image of those who lived in The Heavens.
