A gripping short story about a survival against a natural disaster.

skirting me from every angle and hitting me as fast as bullets, the sand storm held me in a tight embrace leaving no exit and no where to go. I was alone in the desert.

A camping trip held by the school is what started this whole thing. We were supposed to go camping for one night at El_fayoum (don’t ask)on the 10Th of December and all grade 8 was talking about how they were to go camping with their friends and how it was going to be the greatest day of their lives, but for me, something had to go wrong.annoyingly buzzing in my ears, the alarm kept ringing continuously accompanied by my mother’s voice calling me for breakfast, this  continued for about 5 minutes before I could turn the alarm off, it was 5:30AM FOR CRYING OUT LOUD !Anyway, I dragged myself out of be and made it all the way to the closet! This was a miracle because I had only slept for 5 hours. I got on the bus, arrived at school and we finally were on our way to the camping site. Unfortunately, we had to walk for 3 Km to get there under the scorching sun and that’s when it all started …

I got so exhausted that decided to rest weary legs and my jaded body  on a rock for a few minutes, but I seemed to have lost my way because I just couldn’t keep up,just then panic mounted as terror slowly froze my helpless body, ignoring my screaming mind ordering me to run as fast as I can when I saw the most atrocious sight. An ocean of sand raised up in the sky so high that it looked down on the clouds with content and the ground below grew colder as the raging storm surrounded me like a doomed pray.I struggled for what seemed like hours fighting off the sand with all my might, not caring about the stinging sand mangling my arms.I felt the life drain out of my body and finally passed out in the middle of no where. The storm finally came to an end, but I was left with no energy even after i regained consciousness. I stayed motionless for 7 hours till a helicopter spotted my seemingly lifeless body.when I restored my energy, I couldn’t be happier I was alive !
