            A Fear of Technology

            By Eric Frazer

Technology is a word that can frighten many people, no matter what their age or intellect, unless you are exposed to technology everyday you will never get used to how different machines or their programs work. Even trusty manuals can be to confusing for some. Simple tasks like setting the clock or timer on a video-recorder can be so distressful to their brain that they require assistance’s, even then they still will never be able to program the simplest of machines without someone holding their hand. This disease which is not thought to be contagious, is called Technophobia.

But for all those technophobics in the world there is one piece of equipment that any fool with an I.Q. above that of a soggy tea bag can use. This life saving piece of equipment is called a P.C.or a personal computer. Its purpose is to make tasks easier for us so we don’t have to bother with the  boring little things in life like trying to calculate how much we spent last month. This device is also equipped with a clock that will never need setting even after it has been disconnected from the mains; every technophobics dream.

So when one get used to turning on the computer they will soon learn all the little surprises, including what it has inside its harddrive, oh I am so sorry I forgot that this essay is directed towards people who haven’t got a clue about computer technology. So for give me for jumping so far ahead. I do realise that at this stage in the essay if I start talking about the random access memory of the hard drive or how certain computer programs (software) require a CD Rom drive to run the program, you would probably turn over the page and reach for the next essay. So I’ll explain everything just in case theres nobody with you holding your hand.

The computer is quite possibly the only piece of equipment that has the power to allow two people to communicate across the world. Or even to aide an army in defeating their oppostion fropm miles away. This device has come so far in the years since its conception back in the war years, the first computer was built as a codebreaker so as  to gain some information to help stop the german war machine. Now a day the computer in a typical house has the capability to turn a house into a place of business. When using a computer with an add on called a modem, a computer can turn and become capable of becoming part of the biggest encyclopaedia in the world; the internet.
