A fictitious story told through journal entries, about the settlement the puritan colony of New England.
January 3rd, 1619
I’ve been married for some years now and my sons are doing well. We are remaining hopeful, but are running low on money; it’s a good thing we’ve been saving. I fear for the welfare of my family because I am between jobs. I was fired last week but I’m actively for away for us to make a new start and advance our standard of living and family life. I think we are going to tempt a journey to the new world soon; maybe there we could have a good life, some land, and maybe the farm I have dreamed of having for years. We could probably have enough money if I were to get a good job and begin to stock up, I could even get a discount on some goods from my friend Steve.

We’ve been sailing for a while now and things are looking up. Its been smooth sailing and fair wind, with the strength of god pushing us forward, the tranquility of the sea is unnerving though; I cant help to wonder if this trip will end with success. My two sons are having a good time though we have caught a great many fish, and even a few small sharks. My sons have learned much in these recent years. They are almost men now but they will be forever young to me. We are planning our farm we will establish once we get there and what we will grow; I have discussing with my sons how glorious this new world will be and the fortune we will make and the discoveries we will unearth.

I had rotten luck today one of our masts has cracked by the storm and wrath of the sea; they are bustling to fix it. Some people want us to turn back, saying that god willeth us not to continue, while others say this is merely a challenge of god only to be overcome by faith. It has been a horrible birthday, today my 27th birthday ruined by the poor oafish craftsmanship of the boat. They are trying to fix it with a huge screw but, I don’t know if they will succeed. My wife is fretting for our sons, but I think we will make it, god will push us through.
