This is a short childrens story and it is about a little girl who finds a praying mantis puts it in a jar,then lets him go… Her father is putting Miracle Grow on the lawn and something really out of the ordinary happens!
In Elmsview….
A family lived with complete trust and joy….there was nothing in Elmsview to give them a fright!
Kendall Martin ,her parents; Linda and Dean all lived in a big,two story house…
They had a dog named Sam and a cat named Grace….
One Saturday, Mr. Martin was putting Miraculous Grow on his lawn…
Kendall was in her bedroom!
She ran outside to help her dad!
“Oh look daddy!” Kendall said,”I found a praying mantis!”
“There is a pickle jar in the garage…..Mr. Martin told her.
Kendall ran and got the jar….she put the green,-praying mantis in the jar.
“Oh look!” she said,”Is he praying for you and me?”
Mr. Martin looked in the jar,laughing!
“Why I do suppose he is!”
Kendall,happy took the jar with the praying mantis…inside to show her mother!
“Keep it in your room…said her mother. She was squeamish about insects and things.
Kendall decided to let the praying mantis go…
She opened her bedroom window,lifted the screen and dumped him out onto the green grass in the backyard!
Her dad who was just finishing sprinkling the lawn…waved to Kendall!
Then he disappeared around the corner of the house!
A few minutes later….Kendall who had been searching for her favorite video-
Underneath her bed….screamed!
She ran to the window and looked out….
She saw a giant praying mantis,as tall as her dad….walk past the window!
“OH my goodness….MOM SHE YELLED,”Please come here and see!”
Kendall’s mom came to look…
She felt Kendalls head to see if she had a fever!
“I better call the doctor,she said,leaving the room….
Kendall ran outside to see if she could find him….
“Dad!” she called to Mr.Martin,”Did you see a..a..giant praying mantis?”
“Just the one in the pickle jar my dear….he went back to planting some grass seed.
Just then Kendall saw the praying mantis walk around the garage and into the neighbors yard.
She heard Mrs. Linwood scream! She was an elderly lady and she had been hanging her laundry on the line!
Kendall ran to help her…
“Oh my…said Mrs. Linwood Henry will never believe this!”
“Where is Mr.Linwood?” asked Kendall.
