Fun ways to celebrate a Halloween birthday.

I consider myself one of the lucky ones. If I could be born on any holiday, Halloween is the best one. Since I’ve been a child, I could not hold my excitement every year when it came close to my birthday. Neither could all my friends who looked forward to my parties.  made almost everything by hand. I remember one year I added a theme, Asian. At that time it was called Oriental. There was no political correctness back then. Everyone had to dress in some kind of Asian garb and we sat on the floor eating Chinese take out. We played Chinese checkers.

I carried this tradition into my adult years. There certainly are more choices for costumes as an adult. I hand made all the invitations every year, as well as setting my outgoing message to a recording of “Monster Mash”one year, and the next year “Witchy Woman” by The Eagles.

Nobody was allowed in without a costume or black clothing. There was a bucket at the front door with a sign that read, “If you do not have a costume take something from the bucket or you can not enter”. All the food I made was incorporated, for example. “Witches Fingers”. which were chicken strips with triangles of green peppers for the nails. Of course no Halloween is complete without bloody punch. Adding red food coloring to punch is easy. Also, fake body parts floating in the punch is cool, too. Sitting a skeleton or two at the table with plates of food is a great touch added to the theme. Hope you all have fun this Halloween!!
