Two young boys have a frightening encounter while out Trick-or-Treating on Halloween.

“Is this a great Halloween, or what!” Jim almost shouted the words at Phillip as he looked around at the dense fog that had rolled in a while before. Illumination from the streetlights had given the roiling fog a pale orangish cast.
Phillip reached up and pushed his plastic vampire mask up. The thin elastic band held it around his head. “I guess so,” he replied.
Jim removed his own mask, holding it before him and wiping a smudge from the dark reflective eye shield of his Star League Enforcer helmet. He remained silent, knowing Phillip well enough to know that he would say something more.
After a few moments, Phillip added, “Don’t you think it’s kind of creepy?”
Tucking his helmet under his arm, Jim smiled at his best friend. “That’s why it’s so great!”
“If you say so.” Phillip shrugged, then brightened. “At least we brought in a good haul this year.” As he spoke, Phillip hefted a decorated plastic bag filled with candy.
Jim placed his helmet back on his head. “True,” he said.
They stopped at an intersection and waited for the light to change so they could cross. A trio of other trick-or-treaters, wearing stark white ghost sheets, joined them.
As they waited, Jim checked his watch. “It’s good we’re heading back now. It’s almost nine-thirty. Horrific Theater starts at ten.”
The traffic light changed and they started across the street. “It’s a triple feature tonight, right?” Phillip asked. “To celebrate Halloween?”
Jim nodded. “Right. Spinetinglers is on at ten. That’s followed by Vengeance of the Zombies at midnight, then Loupe Garou at two.”
Phillip winced at the third title. “Loupe Garou?”
“Uh huh,” Jim said. He quickened his pace in anticipation of the film fest.
“Man,” muttered Phillip. “You know how I feel about werewolves.”
Jim kept up his quick pace, slipping through the thick orange-tinted fog. “You’ll fall asleep before then anyway. Hurry up we’re almost to my house. I want time to change before the movies start.”
