In the left corner behind the bookcase there lived a mouse named Gilbert. Gilbert was a young mouse eager to learn and play. Every day Gilbert would walk through the hole in the wall and down into the basement, their Gilbert went to school, at mouse school Gilbert learned to read and write, and play with his friends. Gilbert loved school and always had. For the most part Gilbert’s life was pretty good, but their was one rule NEVER LEAVE THE BOOKCASE WITHOUT HIS PARENTS! Gilbert was very good at following rules and rarely broke them, so rules never really bothered Gilbert. One day on the way to school Gilbert smelt something wonderful; Gilbert knew it could only be one thing cheese, which was Gilbert’s favorite snack, he could hardly wait to have it and share it with his friends. So the Gilbert wandered away, following the amazing smell, each step he took the smell grew better and better. Gilbert came to a sudden stop, he was about to break the number one rule, NEVER LEAVE THE BOOKCASE. But Gilbert was a brave mouse, he could sleep without the night light off, and even swim on his own, surely he was old enough to travel past the bookcase. And so he did the brave mouse ventured past the bookcase. It wasn’t to much longer when Gilbert came across the biggest piece of cheese that he had ever seen. He could hardly wait to dive in and taste the cheese. So he took one big leap for the cheese and SNAP!! Gilbert died instantly, he felt no pain but momma and papa mouse were still very sad. However Gilbert isn’t a mouse he is a 17-year old boy that couldn’t resist driving home while intoxicated. Gilbert didn’t have the guts to call his parents and tell them that their under-aged son needed to be picked up from a party. He could have lived a long and happy life; he could have had a family, a wife a carrier. But when it came down to it he just couldn’t resist that cheese
