A nightmare that was once true pertained to a near death experience. I survived it nine years ago.
It is common to see murder and violent scenes on television and movies, but being the one to experience it is different.
I was twelve then, came home from school and the rest of the evening has been a normal night for our family. Just a chunk of thought in me, my dog was acting so strange since that morning when I left for school. She hadn’t eaten enough and preferred to stare in the sky in a nearby rice field. She neither greeted me with enthusiast nor spent a longer moment beside me. I didn’t have the answers for her gestures so I left her to be that and after three days, she was lying cold dead in our front door and it devastated me.
Another two days came and the feeling of her demise still pricks inside me until I fell asleep. Dreams can be so tricky and wild at times. I felt something moving on my feet. I thought that it was just the wind for no one could crawl up in my bed at 3 a.m. in the morning and besides it would be hard for someone to reach a bed which was situated as the upper one in our double deck bed set. I opened my eyes, surprised and afraid of what I have seen. A stranger whose face was covered with a thin sheet of see-through cloth was heading towards me holding a kitchen knife. Upon the sight of me totally awake because of his presence, he stabbed me directly in my chest as I shouted to call the attention of my parents upstairs. I tried to kick the person which was apparently a man but before I hit him directly, he was able to jump off my bed and leaped to escape. I held my chest and there I saw blood oozing out of an open wound. If you would ask me how it felt like being stabbed, my answer would be nothing because being stabbed is something you did not expect and it was done very quickly that I did not even felt the knife buried and taken out of my chest in a split second.
My parents went down to see what happened to me and cried out for help. My father then quickly decided to scoop me out and brought me to the nearest hospital rather than ran after the criminal. While on the way to the hospital, I could feel the warm liquid gushing from my chest but I am still awake because I could hear my mom’s sobs and my father is continuously shaking me to keep me up. The first hospital where I was brought did not do anything on my wound but rather they advised us to go to other hospitals for no specific reasons. The trip to the next hospital took more or less half an hour. My entire body felt cold and I feel like very sleepy, I can see the streaks of street lights along the road and my eyes are almost closing. There were moments that my eyesight is so blurred and my vision turned to almost white nothing to see but white. I felt so light and really cold, I felt relaxed and peaceful. It lasted for a while but I was back to reality when a strong arm moved my entire body. My father was shaking me all along to keep me up, my parents were telling me not to sleep because they don’t want to lose me, of which I didn’t understood.
