What needs to be done has to be done.

Debbie had been thinking about this for sometime. This was not just a passing thought. She felt that this was a thing that had to be changed. She had very big needs and she could not go on like this. Why should she go without and not have what she felt she was entitled to? Where was the fairness? Where was the quality of what was the word? Equity, yes that was it equity? For one thing if you didn’t speak up for yourself no one else was going to do it. So she sat for a while, still thinking as to the right way to go about this, she didn’t want a big argument and she didn’t want a negative response. So what was the best way to do this?

She put on her best face and gathered up as much courage as she could. She almost talked herself out of it, but she knew she had to do this and do it now. She marched down the stairs and into the kitchen, faced her mother and said  “Mom, can I have an allowance?”
